Church, Main Street, Farmingdale. Visiting at the funeral home on Monday 7-9 p.m. over a cat that has lived with both, wandering 12 miles between their homes. "My kitty's been catnapped," said Sioux Eagle, who adopted the cat four years ago from the Massachusetts Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. She named the cat Coyote.

She went to Small Claims court to get her cat back from Rick Hoffman, at whose house the cat has been living. Hoffman, who calls the cat Nick, wants to keep the cat because he i is concerned about its safety on its long hikes. Eagle, a jewelry designer, got the cat when she and her husband lived in Vineyard Haven's Hynes Point section. They moved in November 1991 to Chilmark and then to West Tisbury. Then the cat, a brown, shorthaired tabby, wandered back to Hynes Point, about 12 miles from West Tisbury.

Hoffman, 45, a portrait painter, took the cat in, named it after St. Nicholas because it was the Christmas season, and ran a newspaper ad saying he had found a lost pet. Last August, Eagle visited her old Hynes Point home and met up with her long-lost cat. She took Coyote back to West Tisbury, and placed an ad in her local newspaper, thanking whoever had taken care of the cat. Then Coyote-Nick hit the road again, taking another 12-mile trek back to Hynes Point.

Eagle went to Small Claims Court last month and Edgartown District Court Judge Brian Rowe ordered Hoffman to surrender the cat to Eagle. Hoffman refused and was declared in contempt of court. He said he was prepared to go to jail for 30 days. Last Thursday, one day before Hoffman was to be locked up, Appeals Court Judge Gerald Gillerman in Boston stayed the sentence, saying Rowe did not have the power to jail Hoffman in a Small Claims civil case. Eagle now must decide whether to sue Hoffman in Dukes County Superior Court.

Parole denied for the killer of Malcolm I Thomas Hagan, 51, also known as Talmadge Hayer, won't be eligible for parole again until 1994. THE ASSOCIATED PRESS ALBANY, N.Y. The last man still in prison for killing Malcolm has been denied parole by a three-member panel that ruled he should continue serving his sentence because of the seriousness of his crime. The ruling Dec. 2 marks the seventh time Thomas Hagan has been denied release by a state parole board the previous ruling coming just before the Nov.

18 release of Spike Lee's film "Malcolm Hagan, one of three men convicted in the slaying, won't be eligible for parole consideration again until December 1994, said parole spokesman David Ernst. However, Hagan spends much of his time outside prison in a work-release program. In his bid for parole in early November, one board member favored Hagan's release, one was against it and the third wouldn't take part in the hearing. At least two parole board members must approve any release so Hagan was granted a new hearing. Hagan, 51, also known as Talmadge Hayer, was sentenced to a minimum 20 years in prison for killing Malcolm while he spoke at a rally in New York City on Feb.

21, 1965. Parole commissioners said he should continue serving a maximum life sentence because he was part of a "premeditated assassination." Two others Muhammed Abdul Aziz and Kalil Islam received minimum 20-year sentences for their roles in the slaying. Aziz and Islam, who each served more than 20 years in prison, have been paroled. of concerts noting the organ's return.
