A OBITUARIES HOLYOKE PLUS Center, Chestnut Springfield, MA 01199. 1. 1: Gerard A. Authier HOLYOKE Gerard A. Authier, 86, a long-time resident of both South Hadley and Holyoke, died June 19, surrounded by family at the Holyoke Soldiers' Home after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease.

Born in Holyoke, Feb. 17, 1920, he was the son of the late Hermenegilde Authier and Marie (Lemieux) Authier. Educated at Immaculate Conception Grammar School, he then graduated from Rosary High School 'in 1936 at age 16. "Gerey" Authier worked at National Blank Book Clearwater, Jan. 11, 1953, daughter of the late James J.

Fleming Jr. and Gladys Elliott Fleming. She attended elementary school in Madrid, Spain, and was a graduate of both South Hadley High School, South Hadley, and Bay Path College, Longmeadow. Debra had a long career in real estate prior to her present partnership with her husband. She was an avid tennis player, captain of her tennis team, and a member of the Ludlow Tennis club.

Throughout her illness her teammates remained a constant in her support network. She enjoyed vacationing at her homes in Martha's Vineyard and Naples, Fla. She loved gardening and was an ardent hiker. Debra was an extremely active member of the Holyoke Catholic Booster Club, and was an important part in the transition of the Holyoke Catholic High School Golf Tournament to the John A. DiNapoli Golf Tournament.

Debra is survived by her husband of 30 years, Michael J. Pancione; a son, Shayne Fleming-Pancione; and a daughter, Alycia Fleming-Pancione, both of Boston; one brother, Paul Fleming of Atlanta, three sisters, Janice Minot of Andover, Patricia Long of Hadley, and Maureen Fleming of Hadley; one granddaughter, Ciana Fleming; and numerous nieces and nephews. The way Debra lived her life, in both sickness and in health, was inspirational to everyone that knew her. Funeral services were held June 23 in the Grace Episcopal Church, Amherst, with burial following in Wildwood Cemetery. The Douglass Funeral Service, Amherst, was entruted with arrangements.

Memorial gifts in Debra's name may be made to the D'Amour Cancer Center, Baystate Medical before joining the Army during World War II. Stationed in Munich, Germany, he served as Army postal clerk. He was awarded a Good Conduct Medal, both European and American Theatre Campaign Ribbons, and also a Victory Medal. While there, he befriended young Klaus Streidl, with whom he maintained lifelong contact. Authier retired from the American Bosch in 1983 after more than 30 years of service.

During that time he owned the General Store in Southampton (1952-53), and also sold -estate through the Knights of Columbus, and Rob Roy Realty. Gerey was the husband of Jeannette (Girard). Authier, who died in 1998. He was also predeceased by his first wife, Fern (Cadieux) Authier, who died in 2003. He leaves four daughters, Viviane (Vee) Wailgum of South Hadley, Michelle Hallgren and her husband Gary of Granby, Lynne Negro and her husband Michael of Tampa, and Nina Miller and her husband Charles of North Truro.

He was predeceased by an infant son, Francis, who died in 1947. He also leaves five grandchildren, Kristin Wailgum of Sunderland; Annabel Hallgren, and Owen, Tessa, and Charlotte Miller. He also leaves two stepdaughters, Sandi Giroux and her husband Rick, of Springfield, and Barbara Ichkavitch and her husband Luc Chagnon of Alton, N.H., and their children. In addition, Gerey leaves three brothers, Lionel, of Auro- 1' ra, Edmond of and Paul of Northampton; six sisters, Sr. Lorette, P.M., of Manchester, N.H., Lucille Deslauriers, of Palm City, Juliette Vautrain, of Chicopee, Annette Sawyer, of Holyoke, Edna Benoit, of South Hadley, and Louise Munley, of Feeding Hills.

He was predeceased by his brother, Rev. Charles, and his sister, Angeline Davignon. Loved by all, Gerey Authier will be missed for his smiles, songs, funny stories, genuine kindness, and helpfulness. Everybody's sweetheart, he'll be. remembered as a gentle man, who loved children, music, reading, and popcorn.

The family wishes to thank the staff at the Holyoke Soldiers' Home for their compassionate care and tireless energy. Funeral services were held June 24 at Holy Cross Church. Tuttle SOUTH HADLEY Ellen M.

Tuttle, 85, was called safely home on June 14, 2006. Ellen was born in New Britain, July 24, 1920, the daughter of the late Merwin H. and Jane Sartori Tuttle. During World War II she worked at the Hanford Nuclear Facility in Washington State; later she worked in the medical department of Joseph E. Seagram in New York City and the Nabisco Company in New Jersey.

She moved to Westfield, and eventually moved to Loomis Village in South Hadley in 1996, where she volunteered her services in a number of areas. She is survived by two first cousins, Elwood Anderson of Southwick and Shirley Fleming of Naugatuck, her dear friends Elaine and Ernst Wildi of New Jersey and Anne Gabrynowicz of Florida, and her many friends at Loomis Village. Her friends and acquaintances will remember her as fiercely independent with a great sense of humor, charm and honesty. Fortier GRANBY Constance T. (Charest) Fortier, 69, of Lakeview Avenue, died June 16 in Baystate Medical Center, Springfield. She was born May 11, 1937 in Holyoke, and was raised there. She has lived in Granby for the past 37 years. She was the daughter of the late Armand and Jeannette (Renaud) Charest.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Albert Fortier. She. also leaves: three children, Paul J. of Woodbine, Daniel J. of Sandwich, and Maryann Sadowski of Chicopee, and many grandchildren.

Brennan HOLYOKE Edward Daniel Brennan, of Boynton Beach, formerly of Holyoke, died June 9 at his home. He was born in Holyoke, son of the late J. Edward and Julia (Walsh) Brennan. Ed was a graduate of 1898 9009 anal4 June 28, 2006 Holyoke High School, and the University of Massachusetts in Amherst; where he received his bachelor of science degree in 1959 and his masters degree in 1966. He was principal of the Kiley Middle School in Springfield, retiring in 2000.

Ed was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Springfield, a member of the National Association of Secondary School Principals, a member of the Conference of Latin American Historians and a member of the American Historical Association. He is survived by his wife, Maria (Cruz) Brennan; his children, Kate Nicoll. of Connecticut, Kerry Conway of Agawam, Ortiz of Florida, Pio Ortiz of Springfield, Karina Brennan of Florida, and eight grandchildren. A Remembrance service was held June 21 in Sacred Heart Church, Springfield, followed by a Memorial Mass. in the church.

(Muller) Tierney, .80, of Allyn Street, died June 15 in Baystate Medical Center, Springfield, surrounded by her family. She was born in Germany, daughter of the late Joseph and Katerina (Schuller) Muller. Irene was predeceased by her husband, Edward Tierney, in 1985. She is survived by her children, James Tierney Sr. of Russell, Karen Tierney and Terry Tierney, both of Holyoke, and Kelly Buckman of Springfield; also her five grandchildren, Megan Connor, James Tierney Jesse Buckman, Spencer Buckman, and Dylan Buckman.

Fleming GRANBY- Debra A. Fleming, 53, of Ferry Hill Road, died June 19 at Baystate Medical Center, Springfield, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Debra was a co-owner and business partner with her husband, Michael J. Pancione, of Pancione Associates Regional Realty, LLC. She was born in ORA 401 18.
